What is Mini Music Makers?
Mini Music makers is a music-based playgroup to develop a lifelong love of music, singing, rhythm and early musical concepts. Parents and preschoolers (ages 1-5 years) can come along to sing, dance, learn and play music together. Starting in early March we will meet Tuesday mornings during school term starting at 10am for a 90min session, with time after for a chat and morning tea.
The program
Each Mini Music Makers session focuses on a Big Idea designed to help develop understanding a musical concept. Corresponding activities include movement games (Follow the Leader and Simon Says etc), pair & share (doing an activity with a parent/carer e.g. Spot the Difference or threading beads), craft (e.g. making shakers, pinwheels or paper plate tambourines) and Nursery Rhyme Sing-along Time. We will also have a learning segment on Musicians in the Bible, followed by story-time, morning tea & free play.
Parent/Carer involvement
We encourage all parents and caregivers to participate as much as possible. Your child will follow your lead and love having fun with you while we all sing, clap and make music. Please be mindful that side conversations can be distracting during the program. There will be plenty of time to chat over morning tea.
Refreshments
A simple morning tea of fruit, crackers and water is served for the children. You are welcome to bring your child’s own morning tea if preferred/required. Adults can enjoy a slice of cake with tea or coffee.
Our leaders
Our leaders are parents who are passionate about music and family relationships. We are all Christians and members of Devonport Presbyterian Church and have had Child Protection training and clearance checks.
Feel free to ask our leaders any questions about Mini Music Makers, other activities run by our church, or how we can help you or your children know more about Jesus.
